His experience covers commercial and residential air conditioning, ventilation and mechanical services, with a particular focus on ensuring that systems are practical, compliant, energy efficient and deliverable in real-world environments.

Working closely with clients, consultants, manufacturers, specialist contractors and the Mechtech engineering team, Devon provides the link between design intent and successful site delivery. His hands-on approach enables potential issues to be identified early, while maintaining close control over programme, cost, quality and technical performance.

With over 25 years' experience in the mechanical services and HVAC industry, André Schoombee is Technical Director of Mechtech, bringing extensive technical expertise in the design, validation, installation, commissioning and management of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.

André is a Member of the Institute of Refrigeration (M.Inst.R), a Member of CIBSE (ACIBSE) and a qualified TM44 Air Conditioning Energy Assessor, reflecting his commitment to technical competence, energy performance and professional standards within the building services industry.

Throughout his career, André has successfully delivered projects across a diverse range of sectors, including commercial offices, healthcare, education, retail, hospitality, industrial facilities and high-end residential developments. His technical experience encompasses VRF/VRV and heat recovery systems, split air conditioning, ventilation, heat recovery, chilled water, commercial heating, controls and wider building services integration.

As Technical Director, André provides senior technical oversight across Mechtech's projects, ensuring that proposed solutions are practical, compliant, energy efficient and designed to deliver long-term performance. He works closely with clients, consultants, architects, manufacturers and contractors, providing experienced engineering input from initial concept and system selection through design development, installation, commissioning and final handover.

André also has extensive experience in existing-system validation, technical due diligence, fault investigation and performance assessment, providing clients with clear and practical advice where existing HVAC installations are being retained, modified or upgraded.

His approach combines detailed technical knowledge with the practical experience gained from more than two decades in the industry, ensuring that Mechtech's designs are not simply technically correct on paper, but buildable, maintainable and capable of performing as intended in operation.
